The character brand “Ned the Nerd” is an ironic imitation and antithesis to the wide-spread character brand “Hello Kitty”. 

The idea here is that Ned is a sarcastic, hyper-intelligent insomniac and scientist who lives in a world where people's dreams come true at night, which is why the visual style of the environment changes each night. The brand therefore consists of varying pixel and vector styles. 

Similiar to other character brands, such as "Hello Kitty" and "Emily the Strange", the character doesn't have its origin in a single product, but it is the character itself that becomes the brand. This enables the brand to appear in different lines of products such as comics, video games, movies, fashion, etc. 

In the team, it was my task to design the logo, the print media and the illustration of several landscape illustrations as well as the vectorization of predrawn character designs. 
The produced print media was promoted by the Media Promotion for Youth of the Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate.
 
 
Another task of mine was to design a wordpress blog as the brand's main website, which includes news, comics and an online store. The stylesheets are exchangeable and the background illustrations animated (using jQuery).
